Our country is a country with a tropical monsoon climate, high humidity, lots of rain, etc. This is a favorable condition for people to develop frog farming. The tarpaulin-lined frog farming model is receiving great attention from farmers. The content of today’s article we will share with you Techniques for raising frogs in tarpaulin tanks. Do not rush to miss the interesting content of the article.
Techniques for making tanks
There are 2 types of tarpaulin tanks:
Piling tarpaulin tank
Around the tank are piles to support the canvas, the stakes are 1.5 m apart. The ends of the piles are connected together (people can use twine or parachute to connect the piles), then cover the poles with canvas, taking the stakes as a fulcrum.
The advantage of the tarpaulin-lined tank is that it is cheap and easy to implement. However, its disadvantage is that it is easy to be bitten by rats. This type is only applied in areas where there are no rats.
The tank is covered with a tarpaulin wall
The tank is surrounded by a brick wall about 1.4 m high; 5 m long; 3 m wide. The flat bottom of the tank tends to be slightly tilted about 15o for easy drainage. The bottom of the tank is buried with drainage pipes that are easy for people to clean the aquarium. After completing the construction of the surrounding brick wall, cover the bottom of the tank with tarpaulin (cover the remaining tarpaulin about 0.5-1 m).
The advantages of a tarpaulin-lined tank surrounded by brick walls are: Easy in cleaning the aquarium, avoiding the entry of other animals into eating frogs. However, this type of tank requires a lot of effort and high cost.
Note: After the aquarium is finished, it is recommended to disinfect the tank by soaking in lime water for about 6-7 days. The tarpaulin tank should cover the plastic sheets to cover the sun, but do not cover it too tightly to avoid causing disease to the frogs
People should choose frogs with a weight of 6-7 kg/1000 children. Size 4-6 cm/head. Dark skin color, flexible response. Breeding should be selected in the frog hatcheries near the locality, short transportation time to ensure quality and avoid seed loss.
After buying frog seeds, you should use purple medicine to bathe the frogs to disinfect and poison the frogs during transportation.
In the first month, frogs should be released from 250 frogs/m2. Monday 150 animals/m2. The third month about 70 animals/m2.
Note: Do not stock frog density too thin or too thick will affect the development of frogs. The amount of water in the aquarium is about 20-30 cm.
Frog care techniques
For pellets: should spread food evenly so that all frogs in the tank can eat. Frogs in the first month should be fed bran containing 4-6% of the frog’s weight, in the next month, reduce it to 3-4%. When feeding frogs, it is necessary to observe carefully, if the frog eats all the food, then after 20 minutes, feed more. If the frog does not eat all of it, the next feeding should reduce the amount of food.
For food is fish (humus fish, small fish, trash fish, …): this is a source of food that provides a lot of nutrients for very large frogs to help frogs grow and develop well. However, frogs should only eat fresh fish, should not let frogs eat rotten fish. After cleaning the cage clean, pump enough water to the level of the frog’s legs, let the trash fish on the foam, wait for the frog to finish eating, then pump the water up. Frogs should be fed 3-4 meals/day in the first month and 2 meals/day in the next two months.
Attention: Food must be suitable for each stage of frog development:
+ Frog stage 3 days old: natural food, fresh, with 35.37% protein.
+ Frog stage 15 days old: food has 35% protein
+ 45 days old frog stage: food has 30% protein
+ 90 days old frog stage: food with 25% protein
+ Growing and selling stage: feed with 22% protein
In the first month after releasing the frog, the water should be changed twice a day
In the 2nd month onwards, only need to change 1 time / day
In households that use water from a bore well, it is advisable to pump it into the tank one day before changing the water for the frogs. The pH in water suitable for frogs is 6-7.
Frog development process: After 1 month of raising frogs, the weight is about 60-80 g, after 2 months about 150-190 g, 3 months about 250-320 g
Harvest: Frogs can be harvested after about 3 months of being raised. Don’t feed the frogs 1 day before selling for easy transportation, to avoid loss for buyers.
Those are all the sequences and details of frog farming techniques in tarpaulin tanks. It is hoped that people can well apply the technique of raising frogs in tarpaulin tanks in the process of raising frogs to bring about efficiency, productivity and high quality of frogs to help people develop their livelihoods. Good luck to the frog breeders!
