  1. Cultivate the land, choose the season to plant pumpkins and gourds

To achieve the highest yield for each growing season, there are 2 important steps that gardeners need to keep in mind. The first is to cultivate the land, then to choose the right time of the year to grow pumpkin and gourd.

First of all, about soil cultivation, pumpkin is a vegetable variety that grows and develops best in loose, humus-rich soil with high ventilation. It is best to choose to plant pumpkin gourds on light soil with a pH of 6 – 6.5, such as alluvial soils along streams or rivers.

In particular, pumpkin gourds do not tolerate flooding, so consider planting in high beds or for climbing plants depending on cultivation conditions.

In case of bad soil, it is necessary to improve before planting trees by cleaning weeds, spreading lime to remove alum and fertilizing for many days with rotting manure.

In our country, pumpkin gourd is grown mainly in two seasons, the winter-spring crop, sowing seeds or planting seedlings in November – December, harvesting April – May of the solar calendar. Or choose to plant in the summer-autumn crop, sow seeds or plant seedlings in June – July, harvest September – October of the solar calendar.
