Jackfruit tree belongs to the group of fruit trees, is a tree of high economic value. Technique of planting jackfruit trees quite simple, the care process does not have too many points to pay attention to. Therefore, in our country jackfruit is grown very popularly. In this article, we will send you techniques for planting and caring for jackfruit trees that bring high economic efficiency.
The Northern Delta is planted in February – April and August – October.
The Northern Midlands and Mountains are planted from April to June.
The South Central is planted from November to December.
Land for planting
Choose soil with a thick layer of cultivation. Ground water level is less than 1m. The fields are plowed to dry the land to the white border. Go to bed 30 – 50cm high, 1.3 – 1.5m wide. The groove is 30-40cm wide.
Prepare the seedling
Select grafted seedlings in 11 x 25cm PE bags. Plant height should be at least 35-40cm. Rootstock diameter 0.5cm. Plants grow well. No pests. No broken tops.
You can choose one of the following varieties of jackfruit to plant: Super early jackfruit, red flesh jackfruit, super sweet jackfruit, and Tu Quy jackfruit. These varieties all give high yield, good quality such as, thick pulp, small seeds, low fiber, sweet taste, attractive aroma, no resin when ripe.
Plant 22 – 23 trees/pole (625 plants/ha). Distance: Trees from trees = 4m; row spacing = 4m.
Dig a hole 40 x 40 x 40 cm. Let the pits dry for 5-7 days before starting to fertilize and fill the soil. When filling the hole, bring the topsoil to the bottom, the bottom soil layer is mixed with the fertilizer to fill the top, planting does not let the roots come into direct contact with the fertilizer.
How to grow: Tear off the shell of the plastic bag. Cut off the twisted roots in the pot (if any). Use a hoe to open the hole enough to place the potted plant, fill it with soil, lightly compress it, and stick the stake to keep the seedling straight. Irrigation, root cabinets with straw, straw, rice husk, sawdust. Note, when planting, it is necessary to rotate the grafted eye towards the main wind direction to avoid splitting the graft.
Fertilize before planting 0.3 – 0.5kg of lime + 3kg of poultry manure or 5kg of biogas waste. Fertilize 2 times (1 month after planting and 3 months after planting). Each time apply 0.3kg of super Particle + 0.3kg of NPK Buffalo head 20-10-15+TE. 2nd year: Fertilize 2 times in May and November. The amount of fertilizer 1 time / 1 root: 3kg of organic fertilizer + 0.5kg of NPK Buffalo head 20-10-15-TE.
Fertilize according to the needs of the tree, healthy plants fertilize less, and weak plants fertilize more. On average, each root fertilizes 5-9 kg of poultry manure + 0.5 kg of lime powder + 0.5-0.7 kg of Potassium chloride or 5 kg of microbial organic fertilizer + 1.5 kg of NPK Buffalo head 16-16-8. Fertilize when the tree is about to bear fruit and after harvesting the first fruit. Fertilize according to the trench dug under the tree canopy and cover with soil.
Ensure regular enough moisture for the jackfruit garden. Weeding, pruning diseased branches, weak branches, branches in too thick positions, creating ventilation for jackfruit gardens, avoiding nutrient waste, and minimizing pests and diseases. Attention, pruning should not let the jackfruit garden be more than 3m high, convenient for care, harvesting and to prevent falling during storms.
Lay eggs on young leaves, young fruit then chisel into stems. Timely detection of deep wood mulch extruding from the trunk hole, the root. Use Regent 800 EG or Furadan 3H to mix with garden soil to seal the extrusion hole. Periodically every 10 days / 1 spray of insecticide chlorophyll (use the drug without worrying about overdose and do not need isolation period).
Cause jackfruit to drop young fruit. Pests often damage the junction between fruit and fruit and fruit and stem. Pesticides should not be used for control spraying. It is best to cover the fruit early with a plastic bag right after the tree ends physiological fruit drop.
Often lays eggs on old fruit, causing fruit rot. Prevention: Cover the fruit with a white plastic bag (with perforated holes for transpiration). Combined periodic spraying of chlorophyll insecticides.
After 3 years of planting, the jackfruit tree gave fruit. From flowering to mature fruit about 5 months. Old jackfruit fruit spines will stretch, the rind turns from young green to yellow green, the latex is loose and clear, and there is a popping sound on the face of the fruit. If transporting far away, old fruit will be collected. If you collect the fruit and eat it right away, wait for the fruit to smell good. Harvest fruit too early, young fruit will be of poor quality. Autumn too late is easy to rot.
Above is the information we want to share with you about the technique of growing jackfruit trees. Farmers can refer to and apply the model of growing jackfruit to improve productivity. Happy successful people.
